Our Nonprofit Operations team works every month to disburse donations, following a one and two month timeline for U.S.-based nonprofit organizations.
During the first two weeks of each month, our team reconciles all donations made to all nonprofits (both U.S. and international) in the previous month, from all donors across the platform. Because of the volume of donations and the complexity of our processes to ensure all donations reach their destination, the reconciliation and subsequent disbursements take about two weeks. That said, we do our best to get the donations out the door as quickly as possible, while keeping processing costs for donors and nonprofits at a minimum.
Donations are aggregated by nonprofit and sent as one lump disbursement to each organization. We make it easy to track individual donations in each disbursement's donor report.
One Month: Credit card/PayPal Donations
Credit card and PayPal donations from donors are received right away by Bright Funds and are queued to go out the following month.
For example, a donation made in January would go out to the nonprofit in mid-February.
Two Months: Matching and Credit Donations
Matching and credit donations take two months, as Bright Funds must receive the funds from the company before disbursing the funds to nonprofits.
Companies are invoiced on the 1st of each month for any matching or credit donations that took place the month before. If the contributions for the matching and credit donations are received that same month the invoice is sent, those funds are expected to be sent the following month.
The two-month timeline is a general expectation for these types of donations, and is contingent on Bright Funds receiving those contributions from the company.
