If your company offers matching, and you made a donation to a GoFundMe, it may be eligible for matching, depending on who receives the donation via GoFundMe.
Can my donation to a GoFundMe be matched?
Your donation to a GoFundMe may be eligible for matching if it meets one of the following:
- The donation made on GoFundMe was made to a fundraiser created by the GoFundMe Foundation
- The donation made on GoFundMe was made to a nonprofit, who will be the recipient of the GoFundMe donation
If your donation is going to GoFundMe Foundation or a confirmed nonprofit, you can request a match on the appropriate recipient's page in Bright Funds.
I donated to a friend's personal GoFundMe page. Can that be matched?
Unfortunately, no. If you donated to a GoFundMe page that is for an individual, it cannot be matched. GoFundMe is not able to allocate matching funds to fundraisers created by individuals for personal use.
I donated to a fundraiser that a nonprofit created on GoFundMe. Can that be matched?
Yes! If you donated to a GoFundMe that was created by a nonprofit, and you received a receipt confirming they received your donation, you may be able to request a match.
When requesting a match on the nonprofit's Bright Funds page, be sure to check the "include a designation" box to indicate what fundraiser your matching donation is for. This will be shared with the nonprofit once the matching funds are sent, and would be up to them to allocate on their end.
